JSC Volga is awarded testimonial by the Nizhny Novgorod region Government

In connection with the 90th anniversary of the Company and for a major contribution in the social and economic development of the region, JSC Volga is awarded testimonial by the order dated 13th of August, 2018 of Gleb S. Nikitin, the Nizhny Novgorod Governor.

According to the Government estimate, today JSC Volga takes a worthy place among the biggest companies of the paper industry of the country and is one of the most successful and modern enterprises, producing the goods of high-quality which are in demand both in Russia and abroad.

The Volga’s history is calculated from the 25th of August of 1928 when the Balakhna Paper Mill began to produce the newsprint.

By the end of 1950s the annual output reached 250 thousand tons of the newsprint. In 1960s the fundamental reconstruction and expansion of the Paper Mill started. In 1960s-1967s PM6 and PM7, new groundwood (pulp) mill and a new warehouse were brought into operation in the Mill.

In October 1994 the state-of-the-art high-speed PM8 was launched. In 1997 the renovated Wood Handling Department (the wood yard) was bought into operation, the TMP workshop was renewed, the pulp production was finally stopped as the main object of ecological hazard. In 2007 the complex line for Balakhna bark, wood waste and sewage treatment plant sludges recycling was built in the Mill.

In 2017-2018 JSC Volga realized several major investment projects including mastering of the low-substance newsprint production, the main advantage of which is the increased area in a standard reel. The Paper Machine №4 has been launched which produces from the waste paper the paper used for the corrugated fibreboard and other packing types of paper making. The measures have been taken to improve the energy efficiency of the Mill through the development of its own electrical power generation.

Among the current tasks and plans of the Mill for the coming years is to increase the finished product output though the building of the new TMP workshop.

JSC Volga is ranked in the Top 200 Largest Russian Exporting Companies rating (according to the Expert magazine), in the Top 50 Largest Forestry Companies rating (according to the Lesnaya Industriya [Forestry Industry] magazine) and the Top-100 largest Companies of Nizhny Novgorod region (according to the Delovoy kvartal [Business district] magazine).
In 2017 the Volga’s newsprint has become a diplomant of the all-Russian contest of the Program "100 best Russian goods".
